To honor our mission of advancing the understanding of dyslexia and providing expertise in the science of literacy instruction, the IDA-RMB is so pleased to announce this quick opportunity for a teacher in our community to attend the 70-hour online Orton-Gillingham Academy Associate Level training through Empowered Readers! Read below for more information about the course, and make sure to apply here by the deadline!

Course Kickoff is October 3rd 8:00 AM–3:00 PM PT, and every Tuesday 10/6 /26 – 3/2/27, 4:00 – 6:30 PM PT, except holidays. Note that Colorado time is one hour later than Pacific Time. This is a 6-month commitment and an amazing learning opportunity!

This structured literacy training combines interactive live daily sessions with flexible, self-paced modules and fully meets the requirements for  Associate Level training through the Orton-Gillingham Academy (OGA).

Participants who complete the training may pursue subsequent practicums (available at an additional cost) to advance toward full OGA certification. All coursework and practicums meet the prerequisite requirements for Certification through the Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI).

Orton-Gillingham Associate Level Certification Training

Kickoff: October 3rd 8:00 am – 3:00 pm Pacific

Then every Tuesday (except no-class days*) : October 6, 2026 – March 2, 2027 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm Pacific


Training Details:

  • 70-hour online course
  • 1 day of prerequisite assignments; must be completed prior to the start date
  • Live online: Oct 3, 2026 8 am – 3 pm PT
  • Live online: Tuesday evenings Oct 6, 2026 – March 2, 2027 4 pm – 6:30 pm PT except:
    • *No class on: 11/24, 12/22, 12,29, 1/5, & 2/23
  • 1-2 hours of weekly, asynchronous, self-paced online components
  • Prepares participants for Classroom/Small Group & Remedial 1:1 OG Tutoring
  • Subsequent OG Associate Level Practicum is available at an additional cost, providing additional coursework hours and ongoing, individualized guidance
  • 3 Graduate Credits available through the University of Colorado at Boulder for an additional fee
  • New! Updated instructional content and activities
  • New! Practicum participants have access to ongoing seminars for an additional fee
